Stress of Thinking you are a Victim can Raise the Risk of Heart Attack

A new study finds that being treated unfairly outside of the office, can increase a person’s risk of developing heart disease.

Researchers at University College studied more than 8000 people and found that those who had a profound sense of injustice were an estimated 55% more likely to develop heart disease.

Experts share the belief that a sense of unfairness of engenders negative emotions may trigger biochemical changes in a person’s body, and according to lead researcher Roberto de Vogli more research needs to be carried out to further strengthen the link between unfairness and our health.

The study, published today in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, concluded: “Unfairness is an independent predictor of increased coronary events and impaired health functioning.”
