Reduce Cholesterol To Avoid Prostate Cancer
Scientists at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center find that by lowering the cholesterol level, one can lower the risk of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is controlled by male hormone testosterone and cholesterol is the main molecule of testosterone. By controlling the cholesterol a man can lower the level of prostate specific antigen.
The study finds that by lowering the level of cholesterol , one can lower the level of PSA down. It will be helpful in reducing the risk of prostate cancer.

The study included around 1000 men taking cholesterol reducing drug called Statins. It reports that the PSA levels were lower after starting the statins, and the drop in PSA was proportional to the drop in cholesterol. Thus the study supports previous such studies on the same subject.
However, the researchers say that this was a very small study and that it needs further research. To conclude, another new study on the same subject at the Johns Hopkings University reports similar results.

My brother has been suffering from high cholesterol ever since he started work (I guess his long hours = bad nutrition and care). I never knew that high cholesterol added another serious risk to men: prostate cancer. His doctor actually told him a couple of weeks ago that he needs to start managing his cholesterol levels because it could potentially save his life. After hearing this, his girlfriend and I frantically searched the web and came across some studies, one from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, that immunized milk lowers cholesterol and even blood pressure. We started him on a strict diet of fruits and veggies and healthy fats (like olive oils, nuts etc.) and even started sneaking in immunized milk supplements into his diet. I think he’s definitely realizing that a healthy body makes a happy person and that he might have reduced his chances of prostate cancer by lowering his cholesterol.
