Democrats Push For Action on Embryonic Stem Cell Bill

An ongoing campaign to allow federal funding of embryonic research was supported by US Senate Democrats with a letter to Majority Leader Bill Frist asking him to add stem cells to a list of health-related issues due for debate next week. It has not, however, been passed by the Senate, and President Bush promised to personally veto it, declaring: “I’ve made it very clear to the Congress that the use of federal money, taxpayers’ money, to promote science which destroys life in order to save life - I’m against that.
