A 76 Year Old Women Recalls Her Life Post Silicone Prostheses Breast Enlargement Surgery
Texan Timmie Jean Lindsey was only 20 when she had gone through the breast enlargement surgery using silicone prostheses. She was among the 12 patients to go through the first ever silicone implant process.
Lindsay recalled her days when she divorced her husband at the age of 20. She wanted to do something different and surprising. At that time she came in touch with Dr. Frank Gerow, a plastic surgeon. Garow was looking for some women who could take part in the first human trials, of pioneering breast augmentation surgery using silicone prostheses.
Gerow told Lindsey of the need for breast augmentation. He told that silicone implants can repair the breast of the women suffering from breast cancer. He also said he could improve her looks too. Dr Gerow said he could lift her breasts back to how they used to be. Lindsey, however recalled that her operation was successful.
It can be added that prior to silicon implant surgery, the breast enlargement was done with the help of glass, paraffin and silicone injection. The consequences were disastrous, with side-effects ranging from inflammation to organ damage.
However, unlike her, others among their group had to face various difficulties like arthritis and liver disease. Lots of women had trouble with silicon leaking into their systems. Some of them died. Even after that she believes in the treatment.
And now, at 76 Lindsey can wish a good future for her 32 year old granddaughter who opts for the silicon implant surgery.
